On April 30, 1988, the Chengdu Military District certain group army took over the task of the defensive battle at Laoshan. By that time, the Laoshan region was under complete control of the Chinese troops.
In order to commemorate the 4th anniversary of reclaiming Laoshan, the Chengdu Military District Frontline Headquarters, the Wenshan Zhou officials and the frontier force leaders gathered at the Laoshan summit to participate in the inauguration ceremony of the “Laoshan Summit Memorial”.
The Laoshan battle was concluded with the final victory of the Chinese troops. After the battle, the Chengdu Military District certain group army issued this memorial medal.
