CM02 | NATIONAL ORDER OF INDEPENDENCE
Ordre National de l'Independence (Reach Bochniykech Teamtear Ekreach) five classes and collar - November 17, 1963; December 21, 1964 |
||||
For: | perpetuating the memory of the Royal Crusade and the return of independence in 1953, two triumphs of King Sihanouk
Design: | Obverse: | central blue enamel oval with the tower of the Monument of Independence in gold, surrounded with a red enamel riband, and on the outside eight sets of enameled rays; suspension of a royal crown with rays coming from the top;
Reverse: | plain | |||
Ribbon: | 37mm for all but sash: crimson |
The award of this order was determined by the Grand Chancery of the Royal Crusade for Independence.
The collar was presented to President Tito of Yugoslavia in January 1968, President Soeharto of Indonesia in April 1968, and Emperor Haile Selasie of Ethiopia in May 1968. Also it seems President Socharno of Indonesia in 1963 or 1964. General de Gaulle's collar is displayed at the Museum of the Order of Liberation in Paris (if anyone can gets a photo of it for me, I'd appreciate it).
A photograph evidences the existence of the collar of this order. Strangely, however, no examples otherwise of this order have been seen on the market, and it is thus questionable to what extent, or whether at all, it was awarded.
It is revived by the new kingkom in a modified form as the National Independence Medal.
2/0 | Collar / Grand Collier de l'Ordre
